Facts & Trivia

Date of Birth: 1st January 1969

♥ Sophie trained at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) after recieving a scholarship to attend.

♥ She is of half Nigerian/half European-Jewish heritage, but is a born and raised Brit.

♥ In 2005, she became the first black actress since Angela Bassett in 1994, to receive an NAACP Image Award for the same role in which she was nominated for an Oscar (Academy Award).

♥ Sophie was the first black actress to be nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award at the Academy Awards since Marianne Jean-Baptiste in 1996.
